Tubi Style Exhaust Control Unit (ExCU) with harness
ExCU.
This control unit controls the by-pass valves mounted on the vehicle’s exhaust system. It is designed to work both in a stand-alone situation and in a piggyback mode. When in piggyback mode, the ExCU is placed between the OEM valve controller and the bypass valves.
It has 4 unique operating modes:
STANDARD MODE
In this mode the ExCu will monitor the OEM control signal and duplicate the bypass valve behavior with no changes
OPEN MODE
In this mode the ExCU will force the bypass valve to remain open at all times, independent of the factory control unit.
SPORT MODE
In this mode the ExCU will open the bypass valve every time it detects spirited or sporty driving. When onboard accelerometer detects that the driver is accelerating or braking beyond a certain threshold, the valve will remain open.
The ExCU will return to normal operating after 10 seconds of regular driving and reactive once the threshold is again exceeded.
FOOT OFF MODE
In this mode the ExCU will open the valve each time the vehicle is decelerating. The valve will otherwise behave normally, but allow the driver enjoy much better off-throttle engine sound.

The valves that can be controlled are:
- Pneumatic by-pass valves – diaphragm valves that are controlled in PWM by one or two servo valves that modulate the pressure generated by depression tanks, and
- Electric by-pass valves, valves equipped with electrical engines, reducer and integrated electronic control.
The ExCU sensors can measure a maximum acceleration of 3kg for 500 microseconds. This characteristic permits its use also on vehicles in extreme conditions, such as OFF ROAD and race vehicles.
